Richard “Dick” Lewis, 83, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 5:08 p.m. Monday at Baptist Health Paducah. He was born on January 24, 1942, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to the late Carl G. Lewis and Mary Nell Harper Lewis. Dick retired from Lockheed-Martin Corporation as an Airplane Mechanic. Before moving to Paducah, Dick lived in Arizona for forty-plus years, where he loved the mountains and desert. After his retirement, he worked at the Phoenix Raceway, and one of his finest moments was when he took care of Chuck Yeager’s airplane. Dick served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Lewis Smith of Arizona; two sisters, Marsha (Scott Waggoner) Lewis and Karen (Mike) Stone all of Paducah, Kentucky; brother, Danny E. (Marsha Watkins Lewis) Lewis of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Aaron Saddler, Josh Saddler, Matthew Lewis, Andrew Lewis, and Jessica Lewis; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian J. White Lewis; son, Scott Lewis; sister, Marilyn Traughber; brothers, Donnie Lewis and Chuck Lewis; and his parents.
Private visitation and burial will be conducted.
