Richard was the son of John and Mary Romanchock Yasko and was a proud graduate of E. Canemaugh-E. Taylor Twp. High School, following which he was a scholarship recipient and employee of National-U.S. Radiator in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

He was a former member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in E. Conemaugh and a member of the church choir; he was also a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and was awarded a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics.

After a postdoctoral position at Argonne National Laboratory, he married his sweetheart, best friend for life, and lifelong partner, the former Janice May Strebe of Waupaca, Wisconsin.

Richard lived most of his life in the Midwest and Northeast, working for a number of corporations, but he also enjoyed teaching Physics at Villanova University and Winona State University. Upon retirement from Benchmark Electronics in Winona, Minnesota, as Director of their QA/FA Laboratory, Richard and Jan retired to Gainesville, Florida, and worked on their tennis skills among other activities.

With one son in the United States Army and the second son having completed his college education, Richard and Jan, along with their son Greg, relocated to a four-season climate in Paducah, Kentucky, a location more central to both of their families. As a member of the Paducah Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Richard volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, eHomes, and as an Ombudsman visitor at nursing homes.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janice Strebe Yasko; two sons, Gregory John Yasko of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Thomas Andrew of Wahiawa, Hawaii; a brother, Ronald M. Yasko of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ann Van Dolah and Dorothy Lee Yasko Hauer; two brothers, Theodore Daniel Yasko and John Yasko, Jr.; and his parents.
