Ricky E. Gray, age 73, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at St. Thomas West in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on August 24, 1952, in Peoria, Illinois, to Chester and Mable Bronson Gray. He was one of eight children.
Ricky was an outdoorsman through and through. He found his greatest happiness in the quiet beauty of nature. Horseback riding, gardening, and camping were more than hobbies to him-they were a way of life. His hands, often marked by soil or the reins of a horse, reflected his strong connection to the natural world he cherished.
Music was another gift Ricky shared generously. Whether he was strumming his guitar or playing his harmonica, his music brought warmth to gatherings, campfires, and peaceful evenings. Those who heard him play will carry the memory of his melodies for years to come.
Above all, Ricky was devoted to his family. He treasured the time spent with them, especially during family camping trips. These adventures became treasured memories, filled with stories, laughter, and a shared love of the outdoors. His gentle nature, steady support, and boundless love shaped the lives of those around him. Ricky’s heart guided him in everything he did. He nurtured the growth and happiness of his family, and every moment spent with him was one to be valued.
Ricky is survived by one daughter, Kara Gray-Watson (Joseph) of Paducah, and one sister, Tammy Malray (Steve) of Paducah, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lynda Cox, Claudine Belt, Charlene Gray, and Suzanne Copeland; two brothers, Kenneth Gray and Billy Gray; and his parents.
