Everyone needs an Uncle Bob. Robert “Bobby” Shirley was that kind of man — dedicated, loving, and full of life. He passed away peacefully at his home at 8:15 a.m. on June 25, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on November 13, 1964, Bobby was the son of the late Bernice and Leo Shirley. He was preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Scott Shirley, his sister Cheryl Atwood, and his nephew Jimmy Dye.
Bobby was a hard-working man who took pride in everything he did, especially his work as a painter. He was known for his unwavering love for his family, a sharp sense of humor full of dad jokes, and a lifelong passion for the LA Dodgers.
To his grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Grampy and Papa Puddmuddle, titles he cherished above all. Time spent with them brought him his greatest joy.
He is survived by his daughter, Lora Jordan and her husband, Michael of Paducah, Kentucky; his beloved grandchildren, Brittany, Ashlie, Blake, and Savannah; and great-grandchildren Isaiah, Evelyn, and Coban.
Bobby is also survived by his siblings, Rhonda Dye (Bobby) of Unionville, Illinois, and Dennis Shirley of Metropolis, Illinois. He was a beloved uncle to Bradley Dye, Shelley Cornwell, Micah Hodge, Charlie Spry, Patricia Shirley, Scott Shirley, Jennifer Atwood, Jesse Atwood, Daniel Shirley, DJ Shirley, and Aaron Shirley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Shirley; a sister, Cheryl Atwood; and his parents, Leo and Bernice Eastham Shirley.
Bobby’s legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
