Ronald Craig Thompson, born December 20, 1960, passed away March 2, 2026, at 7:05 a.m. This day was the end, but one of the happiest days of his life. At 7:14 a.m., 39 years ago, in the same hospital, his son Brandon was born. He was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and lived in Paducah most of his life. He formerly worked for Budweiser and Reynolds & Doyle Cabinet Shop.

Affectionately known as ‘Late Night' by many, he was a proud vocal member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 184 for over 35 years. Ronnie liked it fast and lived on the edge. He actively participated in competitive water skiing and sky diving with over 500 jumps that were remembered times. His constant search for things to do meant flying RC planes, trucks, and boats. Water sports and fixing anything broken were at the top of his list. He always offered assistance to someone in need with an open heart. Ronnie’s retired years were filled with the most enjoyment of traveling by the open road or waterway. He was also devoted to his mother, Lourice, until her death. ‘Late Night’s’ favorite holiday was Christmas. He enjoyed celebrating many good times with family and friends.

It is with immense gratitude that Ronnie recently gave his life to Christ. May he continue to live in our hearts…

Along the way, who is left to miss him is Michelle, “My Michelle”, of 14 years. Together they built a life they loved, which included his son: Brandon Chase Thompson (Amanda), Layton, Kyla, Gavon, Remee, Zachary, Grace, and Nicholas; Ronnie’s bonus kids, Jacob Craig Sullivan, and Jessica Mailene Sullivan; nephews Dylan (Lauren) and Cody (Hayleigh) Thompson; Max (Julie) Woods and children. Close relatives, Ron and Natalie Olsson, and their family, cousin Billy, and daughter Erika, his ex-wife Donna Thompson, as well as many friends who will remember him fondly.

Preceded in death were his parents, Chaser and Lourice Olsson Thompson; older brother, Steve Thompson.

Services of celebration will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Tim Turner officiating. Burial will follow at the Smithland City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m.
