Sarah Alexandra Humm, 51, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at her home, surrounded by family and by prayer, on May 21, 2026, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Sarah was born on August 7, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gleycy Lavanholi and Antonio Lavagnolli. She grew up on the north side of Chicago, where she graduated from Luther North High School. Sarah studied dental hygiene at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, and she worked as a dental hygienist for several dentists over the years, most recently at Poat Family Dentistry in Paducah.
Sarah met her husband, Paul Humm, originally of Golconda, Illinois, on a train journey from New Orleans to Illinois. They were married on March 24, 2001, in Skokie, Illinois. Sarah and Paul were blessed with four children: Thomas Ezequias (born 2003), Joseph Karol (2005), Mark Leonard (2008), and Patrick Stephen (2010). Sarah was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her children were the light of her life.
Sarah was received into the Catholic Church in 2001. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Paducah, Kentucky, along with her husband and children.
Sarah loved flowers and gardening, and she spent many hours cultivating flowers and other plants to beautify the family home. She was outgoing and loved spending time with friends and relatives. She had special bonds with her sisters and cousins, and she was a proud aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Sarah found joy even in her final months by celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary with Paul; seeing her son Thomas graduate from college; getting to know Thomas’s fiancée, Catherine Accurso of Gilbert, Arizona; and spending time with her four children. Sarah was immensely loved by her husband, her children, and her entire family.
In addition to her husband, children, mother, and father, Sarah is survived by her five sisters, Alexis Kaniewski, Elyse Zeiger, Hannah Lavagnolli, Priscilla Lavagnolli, and Deborah Lavagnolli; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Earl Hall.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 29, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (preceded by prayer at 4:30 PM), at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home, 3745 Old US Hwy 45 S, Paducah, Kentucky.
The funeral Mass will be Saturday, May 30, at 10:00 AM, at St. John Catholic Church, 6705 Old US Hwy 45 S, Paducah, Kentucky, followed by burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, RR1 Box 140, 15 St Joseph Rd, Elizabethtown, Illinois.
