Shela Egner, 74, passed away on May 28, 2026, at Parkview Nursing Home in Paducah. Shela was born in McCracken County to the late Ryman and Alta Fortson Egner.

Shela dedicated many years of service to helping others. Over the years, she worked with Mercy Ambulance Service, where she served as an EMT for 12 years, Crittenden County EMS, and worked security at North Star Steel.

Faith was an important part of Shela’s life; she attended Salt and Light Community Church in Paducah. She enjoyed gardening, watching “Days of Our Lives,” treating herself to a good milkshake, and loved dogs, especially German Shepherds. More than anything, she cherished being “Na Na” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shela had a flair for standing out and never shied away from being noticed. She was also known for being assertive in the very best way, very strong-willed, confident, and full of personality. She will be greatly missed by many whose lives she brightened with her presence.

Shela is survived by her daughter, Jimilynn Nichols of Paducah, Kentucky; her sons, Jeffrey (Brittany) Story of Calvert City, Kentucky, and Timothy (Carman) Story of Mayfield, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Chance Nichols, Colton Story, Haley Nichols, Chesney (Dalton) Reynolds, Kathryn Story, and Krystopher Story; and two great-grandchildren, Willow Hall and Sunny Hall.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Tommy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
