Shirley Marie Seely, 76, of Paducah, passed away on November 4, 2026, at Baptist Health Paducah. She was born on July 18, 1950, in Sunbright, Tennessee, to the late William Adkins and Nola Gean Barger.
Shirley was a beloved member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church, where her presence was a steady and comforting blessing to many. Affectionately known as Nana Shirley, she faithfully kept the nursery at Spring Bayou Baptist Church for more than 25 years. This was not simply a task to her, but a ministry of love. She cared for little ones with patience, tenderness, and a heart full of compassion. Generations of children were comforted by her calm presence, and many parents found peace in knowing their babies were in her loving care. Her long years of service in the nursery were a true reflection of her devotion to the Lord and her deep affection for children.
Shirley enjoyed scrapbooking, preserving memories and moments that mattered to her. She also liked playing pool, a pastime that brought fun and fellowship. One of her greatest joys was watching babies, and she delighted in their laughter, innocence, and wonder. These interests reflected her loving nature and her appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Steven Wayne (Renae) Turner of Kevil and William Erik (Jill) Seely of Paducah; her companion, Rod Macropoulos of Kevil; her sister, Ketta Smith of Harriman, TN; her brother, Keith (Tammy) Adkins of Rockwood, TN; her six grandchildren, Cody Turner, Shelby (Nick) Compton, Makayla Seely, Madyson Seely, Dexter Seely and Ruby Seely; her two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Beckham, along with several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Moore Seely Sr.; her son, John Moore Seely Jr.; and her three sisters, Viola (Jerry) Tate, Cathy Adkins and Linda Adkins.
