Remembering Steven Russell Rowland, age 72, of Arlington, Kentucky, born to parents Edwin and Martha Jean Rowland on December 18, 1953, and back home to his Lord and Savior on June 22, 2026.
Steven is survived by his loving children, Lauri (Zack), Bobby (Jackie), and grandchildren Kyle, Brendan, and Lily in Michigan. He is also survived by son Jason (Misty) of Graves County, and grandchildren Nicholas and Jessica. Steve also leaves behind his cherished baby sister, Sheryl (Leo) Moran, as well as her children and grandchildren, who lovingly called him Uncle Steve.
Appropriately known as “Looney” by friends and family, Steve had a fondness for classic cartoons and goofy jokes. He was always good for a prank or a laugh. He was an accomplished boxer, motorcycle enthusiast, and loved traveling extensively across the United States. Steve enjoyed putting together model cars and other unique art projects, including woodworking. He loved the peace and solitude of nature, especially cedar trees and a quiet day of fishing.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, many friends along the way, and his ex-wife, Terri Rowland, who forever remained his dearest friend and great love of his life.
In 1992, Steve wrote some words in anticipation of his eventual departure from Earth, expressing a wish for cremation with his ashes scattered among the cedars. “If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all prejudice against my fellow man…I will have found happiness, and therefore I will live forever, so remember me.”
Steve will, in fact, be remembered fondly by all who loved him as a man who acknowledged his mistakes and faults, who always strived to be better than he was the day before, and who found grace and mercy through Jesus. Steve took great pride in his family and was always there to lend a helping hand to someone in need. He will be greatly missed.
