Sue Vaughn Moffitt

Sue Vaughn Moffitt passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. 

Sue was born on September 9, 1933, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Jesse Gorman Vaughn and Ida Lois Bettis Vaughn.

Sue's journey began in the heart of Kentucky, where she attended Jefferson Grade School, Washington Junior High School, and Paducah Tilghman High School. It was there that she shared countless memories and moments with her beloved Charles R. Moffitt. Their remarkable love story spanned over 70 years, a marriage that stood as a testament to devotion and love in its purest form.

Sue's warmth and generosity extended beyond her family to touch all those within her reach. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild with grace. Her service to the church was a significant part of her life, reflecting her deep faith and her commitment to living a life of purpose and service.

In addition to her unwavering faith, Sue was passionate about life's simple pleasures, such as playing tennis. 

Sue is lovingly remembered by her husband, Charles, her pillar of strength and partner in every chapter of life's journey. She is also survived by a daughter, Laura Lynn Hutchcraft, and husband, Michael, of Marble Hill, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Charles Kenneth Vasquez and Scarlett Grace Vasquez; a brother, Jesse Gorman Vaughn of Paducah. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Chip Moffitt; a grandson, Charles K. Settles; two sisters, Louise Vaughn Metzger and Edith Vaughn Dunkerson; a brother, Byron Jones Vaughn; and her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor David Appold officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
