Terry Payne, 70, of Bardwell, Kentucky, passed away on October 15, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah. Terry was born in Cairo, Illinois, to the late Marshall E. Payne and Lorene Shrodes.
A lifelong Kentuckian, Terry retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department after many years of dedicated service. Known to his family as “TT,” Terry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them and watching them grow.
Terry found peace in the simple things; he loved sitting outside watching the birds and deer, and he never missed a good storm rolling in. He was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcat basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Terry was always ready to lend a hand when someone needed it, and he will always be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and big heart.
Terry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janet Payne; two daughters, Javanne (Matt) Wentworth, of Bardwell, and Dawn (Doug) Spiceland, of Cunningham, Kentucky; two sisters, Paula Perry, of Bardwell, and Janis Owens, of Bardwell; six grandchildren, Cody Goode, Brooklyn Cranor, Kaitlyn Taylor, Logan Wentworth, Dillon Wentworth, and Reed Spiceland; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Puckett; a brother, Marshall L. Payne; and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell with his grandson, Bro. Logan Wentworth officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Bardwell.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service time of 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Bardwell.
