Thomas Michael Mayer, 72, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Daybreak Nursing Center in Sikeston, Missouri.
Thomas, in his earlier years, was a hard-working farmer. Thomas grew up with an innate love for farming, an interest that would shape the contours of his life and his character. An avid hunter, Thomas found profound solace and excitement in the quietude and thrill of the hunt. He was a man who respected nature and all its creatures, honoring the timeless tradition of hunting. Thomas’s passions extended past the fields and woods; he enjoyed the roar and rumble of tractor pulls. The annual events in Louisville were highlighted on his calendar.
Thomas is survived by two sisters, Gail Misfeldt of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Margaret Mayer of Snowflake, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Karen Mayer of Kevil, Kentucky; and two nephews and a niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Mayer; and his parents, Walter Bernard and Alice Priess Mayer.
