Thomas B. Shaffer known to many simply as Tom, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on September 16, 1960, to the late Kenneth E. and Gertrude Overby Shaffer in Paducah, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and devotion to the people and traditions he held dear.
Tom made his living as a self-employed mechanic, a vocation that reflected both his skill and his determination. He took pride in his work and was known for his practical knowledge, steady hands, and willingness to help others when they needed it most.
Tom was a Mason and a member of the Folsomdale Lodge F & AM #283, he was honored as a Kentucky Colonel, and was also of the Baptist faith.
Outside of work and community involvement, Tom found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful pastimes. He enjoyed dirt track racing and fishing, interests that brought him both excitement and peace. Whether spending time at the track or casting a line, he appreciated the moments that allowed him to relax and enjoy life. Above all else, he loved his two children and his four grandchildren, and his greatest happiness came from being with his family.
Tom is survived by his two children, Lindsey Pozas of Paducah, and Brian Kenneth Shaffer of Paducah; four grandchildren, Landon Shaffer, Jaxon Pozas, Nico Pozas, and Audrianna Pozas; his sister, Deidra Burgess and her husband, Nickie of Paducah; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Loveless; and a brother, Donald Boyd Shaffer; and his parents.
A Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
There will be no services.
