Thomas Wayne Cherry, 35, of Symsonia, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his residence. He was born on January 16, 1990 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and grew up in both Campbell County and Boyle County. Thomas graduated from Boyle County High School in 2009.
Thomas loved fast cars and collecting guns. He never missed an opportunity to make a good joke. The Kentucky Wildcats and the Los Angeles Lakers were his favorite sports teams. He always brought his big appetite to family get-togethers, particularly at Christmas.
On August 18, 2012, Thomas was blessed to marry his sweetheart, Delara Beard Cherry. Though he was a tough guy on the outside, Thomas often brought Delara flowers. The couple was blessed with two beautiful children, Gavin and Adley. Thomas was a great dad who often parked his big semi-truck in front of his son’s school, Symsonia Elementary, so that he could watch a basketball game or listen in at the school concert. He was a hands-on dad and was an assistant basketball coach. Gavin and Adley adored their dad and loved him very much.
Symsonia Baptist Church had a big impact on the Cherry family, as did his co-workers at RelaDyne, where he drove a truck delivering oil.
Thomas will be remembered for his outgoing and happy personality, his kind heart, and his desire to always lend a helping hand to anyone. He was always helping others and never met a stranger because he made friends with everyone he met. He was a welcoming neighbor and a good friend to many. Thomas was a great son and son-in-law.
Thomas is survived by his wife, DeLara Beard Cherry; son, Gavin Cherry; daughter, Adley Cherry; mother, Jennifer Woods; step-father, John Woods; father, Thomas Woodrow Cherry; brother, Chris (Cierra) Cherry; sister, Jessica (Travis) Johnson; mother-in-law, Dacia Beard; father-in-law, Duane Beard; three sisters-in-law, Danyiel Beard, Darlene (Ashton) Paschall, and Deanna Beard; as well as several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak with Bro. Rick Miller officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. The burial will follow the funeral service at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Folsomdale.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of gifts to the Symsonia Baptist Church, 680 KY-348, Symsonia, Kentucky 42082.
