Truman Gene Hays, 89, of Melber, Kentucky, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 22, 2026. He left behind a lifetime of love, faith, family, and memories that will be cherished forever.
Truman was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the loving husband of Judy Hays, and together they built a life filled with family, hard work, and countless memories. His family was a tremendous source of joy and pride throughout his life and his greatest blessing, and the love he shared with each of them will continue to live on for generations to come.
Truman had a deep love for farming and gardening. He found joy in working the land, planting and watching things grow, and enjoying the fruits of his labor. His hardworking hands and love for the simple things in life were a reflection of the kind of man he was-humble, dependable, and devoted to the things and people he loved.
Truman leaves behind a beautiful legacy-not only in the family he raised, but in the lives he touched and the memories he created. Though he will be deeply missed, his family can find comfort knowing that his faith has carried him home and that the love he gave them will remain forever.
He will be remembered, loved, and missed more than words can express.
He is survived by his three sons, Bruce (Amy) Hays, Gene (Jill) Hays, and Greg (Renee) Hays, all of Melber. KY; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Hays.
Preceding in death by his wife, Judith Ann “Womble” Hays; his parents, Marvin Hays and Lillie Easter “Burnett” Hays; one brother, Hascal Hays; and daughter-in-law, Melanie Hays.
The Hays family would like to send a special thank you to Martha Howell, Stephanie Howell, and Aybrionna Newberry for all the hard work, love, and compassion, as they took care of Truman and were more than caregivers; they were his friends!
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home, with Revs. Jeff Cruse and Gary Cruse officiating. Burial will follow at the New Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Melber, Kentucky.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
