William Roy Stroup, 73, of Paducah, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah. He was born on August 2, 1953, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Roy Wilbur and Willie Ruth Glass Stroup.
William served as an operator for the Paducah-McCracken 911 Service. In that role, he contributed to the safety and well-being of his community with patience, focus, and a strong sense of responsibility. His work required calm under pressure and a willingness to help others in moments of need, and he fulfilled that duty with quiet professionalism. The importance of his service was reflected not only in the work itself, but also in the trust and respect he earned from those around him.
William’s life was also shaped by his faith and the values he held close. He was devoted to the Church of Christ faith, and his beliefs provided him with strength, guidance, and comfort throughout his years. In his leisure time, William enjoyed watching Westerns and NASCAR, two pastimes that reflected both his appreciation for tradition and his enjoyment of excitement and competition. He also had a fondness for classic cars, admiring the craftsmanship, style, and history they represented. Cooking was another interest that satisfied him, and he likely found joy in preparing and sharing meals in the familiar, comforting way that good food often brings people together.
William is survived by a son, Josh Stroup of Paducah; a brother, Robert H. Stroup of Florida; and a granddaughter, Kayla Stroup.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak, with Jamey Boone officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
