LaCenter, KY James Aubrey Hunter, 95, passed away September 15, 2025, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.
He was a man of many talents and could do almost anything. After retiring from ICC as a telegraph operator, he built cabinets and houses. At the age of 42, he began farming and continued to farm his land until he was 77. He was a member of Lone Oak Church of Christ. He was a resident at Calvert City Convalescent Center for over three years and known as "Pap."
James is survived by one daughter, Linda Crosswhite (Russ) of Murray, KY; one son, who was appointed guardian when he was 14, Brian Nicklaus (Marisa), and their two children, Samuel Gardner Nicklaus and Evangeline Rose Nicklaus of Old Hickory, TN.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Evangeline (Vangie) Hunter; a son, Bruce Aubrey Hunter; a sister, Mary Frances Hester; a niece, Tricia Hester Lillard; and his parents, Willam and Mae Purdy Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at Morrow Funeral Chapel in LaCenter, KY.
Visitation will also be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel in Paducah, KY beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel in Paducah, KY beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Russ Crosswhite officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, KY.
