Michael Stacy

Kevil, KY Michael Stacy, age 68 passed away in Hickman County on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born in Paducah, KY to his late parents, Boyd Foster and Dorothy Jean (Tharp) Stacy.

Michael Stacy served his community as the Ballard County Attorney from 1994 through 2006, winning the Outstanding County Attorney award in 2000. From 2006, until his death in 2025, Michael also served as Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit. He won the Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney award in 2011, becoming one of the few prosecutors to ever win both awards in their career. He served as President of the Commonwealth’s Attorneys’ Association in the years of 2016 and 2017 and was recognized for his lifetime of service with the Redford Award for Outstanding Kentucky Prosecutor in 2024.

He was frequently invited to instruct new prosecutors at the Kentucky Prosecutors’ Institute and to teach at training events held by the National District Attorney’s Association. In the year of 2025, Michael had won the Star Award for his career-long work preventing substance abuse in Ballard County.

Michael is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dawn Ellis Stacy of Kevil, KY; one son, Michael Boyd (Bo) Stacy II of Cunningham, KY; one brother, Steven Stacy (Brandi) of Bardwell; four nephews, Gannon Stacy (Makayla) of Bardwell, KY, Steven "Foster" Stacy of Paducah, KY, Nichollas Holland (Crystal) and Joseph Cody Ellis; four nieces, Camryn Jackson, Jordyn Campbell (Seth), Notcha Gale Watson (Jeff) and Tiffanie Lashaye McCarley (Ryan); two great nieces, Khloe and Piper; multiple grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, after 11:00 a.m. at Ballard Memorial High School Gymnasium.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Ballard Memorial High School Gymnasium.
