Halford Lorenzo "Ren" Hensley was born April 24, 1954, and entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 8, 2024, 12:08 a.m., at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital of Paducah.

He was formerly a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and was formerly employed with Cole Janitorial Service and with the McCracken County Landfill.

“Ren” as he was affectionately known was also called “Red Man”, or the “Bigga” by friends and family. Ren enjoyed cooking, fishing, working on both cars and small engines. He was a cook that enjoyed barbecuing and cooking great meals. He was well known to be an extension of the old Hensley Barbecue from the set. He and his brother, Royce, opened their own Barbecue Place. He was known for his mutton and ribs.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dante’ L. Hensley, his parents, James E. Hensley and Norma Jean Fitzgerald Hensley, and one brother, James Royce Hensley.

He is survived by His Wife, Sheila A. White Hensley of Paducah, KY; Two Sons, Monte’ L. (Latria) Hensley, Paducah, KY and Alan L. (Kim) Hodge, Antioch, TN; A Daughter, Alana Hodge of Paducah, KY; Brother, Jeffrey Hensley, Paducah, KY; Three Sisters, Jean E. Fitzgerald, Althea Hensley and Kathy Hensley (Aaron Prather) all of Paducah, KY; In-Laws, Blanche Hensley, Theodosia (Shelly) Keeling, Anthony (Rose) White, Gus (Mary) White, Norma (Steve) Green, Carolyn Jackson, Marilyn (Danny) Williams all of Paducah, KY, Jerry (Ollie) White and Paula (Albert) Thomas, both of Louisville, KY; Lamont (Donna) White, Brentwood, TN, George (Lucritia) White, Chattanooga, TN; Two Aunts, Sharon (Dan) Overstreet and Sheila (Willie) Shumpert Both of Paducah, KY; One Uncle, Milo (Phyllis) Fitzgerald of Atlanta, GA; Twelve Grandchildren, Devin Hodge, Javarius Hodge, Camryn Hodge, Morgan Dumas, Whitney Miller, Isaiah Hensley, Tayden Hensley, Jonte’ Hensley, Asia Flemons, Javarius Flemons, Quayshawn Flemons and Christopher Flemons; Twenty-Six Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2024, 12 noon at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. James Hudson and Minister Patricia Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
