Jearline “Jerri” Dabney-La’Cour entered eternal rest at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah, Kentucky at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Jerri, as she was more commonly known, was born in Paducah, Kentucky, on November 12, 1945, to Caesar and Julious Sessum Dabney, her loving parents. At the time of her passing, she had reached 80 years of age.
Jerri accepted Christ as her personal savior at Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church at a young age. She was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School in Paducah, and later completed her formal education at Paducah Junior College. After graduating from Paducah Junior College, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met and married Mack J. La’Cour, Sr. To this union, three children were born: Felicia Andrea Michelle La’Cour, Mack Joseph La’Cour, Jr., and David Francois La’Cour. Upon returning to Paducah from Chicago, she joined Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the usher board.
Jerri was a diva and was very fashionable. She never met a stranger and was a very outgoing person. She loved the life she lived; she lived the life she loved, and she enjoyed sharing her life experiences with others. She took care of her family and kept everyone together.
She was employed in multiple fields, such as retail at Spiegel's, Babcock & Wilcox Engineering, Globe Life Insurance, FEMA, and Jackson Hewitt.
Jerri leaves behind to cherish her many memories her children, Felicia La’Cour, Mack La’Cour, Jr., and David La’Cour; her grandchildren, Valencia La’Cour, Natasha La’Cour, Dasia (Jeremy) La’Cour-Dill, David La’Cour, and Christopher La’Cour; Great Grandchildren, Karamello La’Cour, Demetrius La’Cour-Hensley, Omarii Thomas, Isaiah Travis, Aniara Sims, Major Sains, Jayce Sains, Riley Dill, Layla Wilson, Kendall Dill, Elaya La’Cour and one on the way; One Sister, Darline Dabney-Washington of Paducah, Kentucky; Two Bonus Granddaughters, Jasmine Morris and Chantelle Thomas; Best Friend, Carolyn Henderson of Southfield, Michigan; Friend, Angela Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Caesar and Julious Dabney; four brothers, William “Mollock” Dabney, John “Buddy” Dabney, Joseph Henry Dabney, James Dabney; and one sister, Georgia “Pete” Carter.
Jerri will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, 12 Noon at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Alfred Anderson and Reverend Alvin Ware, Jr. officiating.
Family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
