Maxine Hood a resident of Paducah, Kentucky, was born in Cairo, Illinois, on November 9, 1934, to the late Leonard Pierce and the late Frances Howard.  She was a high school graduate and member of Burks Chapel AME Church in Paducah and dedicated her life to being a homemaker.

Maxine was an unforgettable human being. In her early days, she traveled all over as part of a singing group. She was known for her good sense of humor, and she would tell people what was on her mind, and she thought she could barbecue better than anybody. She especially liked drinking her good, cold Budweiser with her straw.

Although she never had children of her own, she helped raise several of her nieces and nephews. She loved babysitting, but she was a strict disciplinarian. She had a special name for everyone in the family and called each one by their special name, not the one they were given at birth.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Lurlene Edmonds, Lynell Davis, and Imogene Jean McAllister, and one great-great nephew, James Jackson, Jr.

Left behind to cherish special and very precious memories of Maxine are three Nieces, Reverend Rita Story of Paducah, Kentucky, Patricia Whitaker of Bloomington, Illinois, and Kathy McAllister; two Nephews, Jeffery (Vernita) McAllister and Rodney (Cassandra) McAllister all of Cairo, Illinois, Great Nephews, Harold Story III, Pimpfunta (Christina) Story both of Paducah, Kentucky, Javiel (Eve) Story of Indianapolis, Indiana, Troy (Christina) Whitaker, Keith McAllister, Tylon McAllister all of  Bloomington, Illinois, Kevin (Iveana) McAllister, Jamal McAllister both of Cairo, Illinois, Michael McAllister, Ronald Pierce both of Chicago, Illinois, Jeff McAllister, Jr., A’Donnis (Connie) McAllister, Jr., both of Joliet, Illinois, Wadelon (Tempestt) McAllister of Evansville, Indiana, Reverend Dr. Brian (Shirley) Gadson of Berkeley, Missouri; Great Nieces, Kim McKinney of Paducah, Kentucky, Deketa McAllister of Joliet, Illinois, Lisa Gadson of St. Louis, Missouri, Del McAllister of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pamela McAllister, Tamela Hughes, Kymberly McAllister all of Bloomington, Illinois, Kathie McAllister, Jamika McAllister both of Cairo, Illinois, Angel McAllister of Cleveland, Ohio; Cousin, Dorothy Jean Hill-Davis of Covington, Tennessee, and a host of Great-Great Nieces, Great-Great Nephews and other relatives.
