Oreese Ivery, Sr. entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his residence. At the time of his passing, Oreese had acquired 77 years, 3 months and 27 days of life on earth. He was born December 30, 1947 in Corinth, Mississippi, to the late Bruce Ivery and the late Gladys Luster Ivery.
After high school, Oreese attended West Kentucky Vocational School and received certification in mechanics. He was employed as a cook/caterer for Big Ed’s Restaurant and a member of Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky.
Oreese was a hard worker, who was known for his independence and self-reliance. Before asking anyone for assistance, he would first try to do it himself. He was a painter and took pride in the fact that he was responsible for painting the trains located in downtown Paducah. He loved to barbecue and boasted that he had the best barbecue in the world. In addition to his skills on the pit, Oreese loved cars, dancing, and talking “trash.” He was a kind man who would do anything for you, but he was going to talk about you while doing it.
His children remember his humor and that he always tried to guide them in doing the right things. He stressed the importance of work, living right, staying off the streets and out of trouble, and taking care of family. Those values are instilled in them to this day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daryl Ivery, two sisters, Fannie Mae Ross and Mary Alice Jones, and a brother, Charlie Ivery.
Left behind to treasure precious memories of Oreese are his Wife, Brenda Stokes; Five Sons, Lorenzo “Gerald” (Dorchelle) Roston, Brian (La-Kel) Jordon, Quan Matchem, all of Paducah, Kentucky, Oreese (Malanie) Ivery, Jr. of Lexington, Kentucky, and Nolan (Dana) Ivery of Carrolton, Texas; Two Daughters, Katrina Ivery Ferguson of Lexington, Kentucky and Jalletha Shantia (Mark) Bledsoe of Paducah, Kentucky; One Brother, Donald (Diane) Ivery of Toledo, Ohio, One Sister, Ann Walker; Several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Special Friend, Ed White, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Oreese will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025, 12:00 noon at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Alfred Anderson and Evangelist Melanie Nunn officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
