Reverend Ricky Jones, born on June 26, 1963, in Paducah, Kentucky, transitioned to eternal rest on March 3, 2026, at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion, having touched the lives of many during his time on earth.

Ricky Jones was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marilyn Jones, for 27 years, and a loving father to his two daughters, Shiann Jones of Paducah, KY and Brooklyn Jones of Granite City, IL. He took immense pride in Shiann's talents as a strong gospel recording artist, celebrating each note she sang all the way to season 15 of the hit show, “The Voice”, making it to the top 10. He himself was a melodious gospel singer who had also recorded his own album which included two of his favorite selections, “You and I’ and “Second Chance”. His nurturing spirit guided his eight sons—Ricky Jones, Jr. of Bowling Green, KY, Ricky Shumpert of Paducah, KY, Dwayne (Edward) Jones of Bowling Green, KY, LeAndre (Laquisha) Bolen of Paducah, KY, Andreus Shumpert of Paducah, KY, Zyaire Hughes of Lexington, KY, Byron Vasser of Paducah, KY, and Tirrell (Trey) Vasser, also of Paducah, KY—encouraging them to reach for their dreams while instilling in them the values of kindness and compassion.

A proud graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, Reverend Jones dazzled both on and off the football field as a running back. His favorite basketball team was the Lakers. His education laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service, culminating in a fulfilling career in Environmental Services at Lourdes Hospital.

Known as a Godly man with a vibrant personality, Ricky cherished family gatherings, creating memories with his thirty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. He was surrounded by love and support from his five brothers—Samuel Jones, Jr. of Washington, D.C., Michael S. (Nicole) Jones of Paducah, KY, Frederick (Alvita) Jones of Paducah, KY, Ronnie (Deborah) Jones of Paducah, KY, and Reverend Wendell (Jerri) Jones of Cincinnati, OH, and his sister-in-law Norma (Robert) Newell of Cairo, IL, all of whom carry forward his spirit in their hearts.

Ricky's deep faith and unwavering strength drew together a community of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who admired him. His kind-hearted nature and ability to inspire others will forever resonate with all who knew him.

Ricky Jones will have a glorious time in Heaven as he celebrates his reunion with his parents, Samuel N. Jones and Dorothy Wheeler Jones, his sister, Debra Jones Johnson, his two brothers, James Earl Jones, Sr. and Troy E. Jones, and his grandson, Ricky Shumpert, Jr.

As we reflect on the life of Ricky Jones, let us remember him as a loving husband and father, a dedicated public servant, and a friend to many. His light continues to shine through his family and loved ones, reminding us all of the power of faith, love, and togetherness.
