With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Tamu D. Collins, who left us far too soon on Saturday, April 26, 2025. At the time of his transition, he had reached the age of 48 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
Tamu was a graduate of Massac County High School, where he was a dedicated football team member throughout his high school years and was of the Methodist faith.
He was a loyal and longtime employee of Harrah’s Casino, where he served faithfully for nearly 30 years across multiple departments, including Banquet, Stewarding, and Environmental Services. His work family remembers him fondly for his fantastic smile and great sense of humor, both of which will be deeply missed.
A passionate football and basketball fan, Tamu never missed a game and loved engaging in lively sporting debates. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears and Duke Blue Devils. When he wasn't cheering them on, he could be found playing sports games on his gaming consoles. He enjoyed the entertainment of wrestling and the weekly tradition of watching it with his uncle Ray.
Tamu’s genuine spirit touched all who knew him. His memory will continue to bring smiles and laughter for years to come.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita C. Collins; his maternal grandparents, Barney and LoVella Collins; and his beloved uncle, Ray Collins.
He leaves fond memories to be cherished by: two aunts, Kay (Terry) Rouse, Sr. of Paducah, KY, and Sharon Collins of Metropolis, IL; four first-cousins, Ricky Collins of Metropolis, IL, Felicia Rouse of Paducah, KY, Terry (Allecia) Rouse, Jr. of Rineyville, KY, and Mea Fitzpatrick of Metropolis, IL; along with other relatives and dear friends.
Family will receive friends at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.
