Willie Twig, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and devoted member of his community, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at his residence in Paducah, Kentucky. Born on May 26, 1926, in Demopolis, Alabama, Willie lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep sense of respect for those around him.

Willie’s commitment to service was evident through his over 30 years of employment in environmental services with the Paducah Independent School System. He took great pride in his work, ensuring that the school environment was welcoming and well cared for. Beyond his professional life, Willie was an Honorably Discharged member of the United States Army, a testament to his loyalty and love for his country.

He delighted in simple pleasures—a sunny day in his yard immersed in his beloved yard work, and the quiet moments spent smoking his pipe. Willie’s warmth extended to the children of the schools where he worked; he often shared stories of the young students and spoke fondly of them. Friends and family will remember him as an overall nice and respectful man who spoke highly of his family and proudly embraced his roles as husband and father.

Willie was a member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal church where he had served on the usher board and was an active member of the Brotherhood. He was also a member of Stone Square Lodge #5, F & AM, Jurisdiction of Kentucky, an affiliation he held with honor and pride. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of kindness and devotion will endure.
