Katherine “Kathy” Rene Carson passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was a devoted mother, proud “Kiki,” loving sister, and loyal friend whose kindness and warmth touched many lives.
Kathy was born on May 25, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Murray High School in 1985 and continued her education at Murray State University. Kathy dedicated 27 years of service as a Certified Coding Specialist at Murray-Calloway County Hospital, where she was known for her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the genuine care she showed to colleagues and patients alike.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Rita Carson.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Garrett L. Holland and his wife, Lauren; and her cherished granddaughter, Finley Gills-Holland, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her father, James “Jim” Carson and his wife, June; her sister, Terri Boggess and her husband, Joey; and her brother, Mickey Carson and his wife, Stacy. She will also be lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kathy found her greatest happiness in time spent with her family, especially her beloved granddaughter. She loved trips to the beach, where she could relax and enjoy the beauty of the ocean, and she especially treasured the joy and traditions of celebrating Christmas with those she loved.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Yates Event Center Clubhouse. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Yates Event Center Clubhouse.
Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Recovery of Western Kentucky in Kathy’s memory. She cared deeply about supporting individuals and families affected by addiction and believed in the importance of recovery and second chances.
Kathy will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her quiet strength, and the lasting impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her.
