Mr. Harold Gene Bynum

Mr. Harold Gene Bynum, age 81, of Murray, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House in Murray, Kentucky.

Mr. Bynum was born on February 12, 1945, in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Roy Bynum and Mary Grace (Lee) Bynum. He retired as co-owner from Bynum Construction and was a member of the Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Mr. Bynum was a devout Calloway County Laker Athletic Fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James “Happy” Bynum and Raymond Bynum; as well as one son-in-law, Kyle Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rose (Wells) Bynum of Murray, Kentucky; they married on August 6, 1965; one daughter, Kim Evans of Murray, Kentucky; one son, Chris Bynum and wife Missy of Hazel, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jordan Roberts and wife Kristina of Murray, Kentucky, Mikaylen Dearmond and husband Chase of Murray, Kentucky, Amber Smith and husband Kevin of Murray, Kentucky, and Drake Bynum and wife Breaha of Kirksey, Kentucky; six great grandchildren, Raegan Roberts, Clay Roberts, Emmett Bynum, Jaxon Bynum, Emma Smith, and Wrenley Bynum; as well as four sisters-in-law, Fran Garrison, Sandra Bynum, Kathryn Bynum, and Lois Wells.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 1:00 p.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. Jeff Collins and Josh McKeel officiating. Entombment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
