Murray | Jul. 04, 1947 | Jan. 07, 2024
Blessed husband, father, grandfather, and tremendous friend to those fortunate enough to know him, Roger Lee Ingrum, 76, flew into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Born July 4, 1947, to parents, Hubert and Matilda (Jones) Ingrum, in Tuscola, Illinois, Roger was the youngest of 13 siblings, all of whom doted on him. He graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1965.
After graduation, Roger enlisted in the United State Navy where he served until his honorable discharge in 1969. He was a DC2 on the USS LaSalle helping with the Gemini 2-MOL recovery and on an extended deployment in the Mediterranean Sea.
Roger met the love of his life, Patricia, in the early 1990s while working with his partner in the R&D Construction Company on a build out for the company Pat was working for in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Shortly after that job was completed, Roger’s next job was pursuing Pat’s heart with a lunch date.
In 1994, they built a home together in North Carolina. On the day construction was complete, Roger proposed to Pat and they were married one year later, September 17 1994,, on horseback in their front yard with their four children present.
Roger retired from R&D Construction in the early 2000s and he and Pat relocated to New Concord, Kentucky, where they built another home and lived happily with their many beloved dogs.
Roger was a friend to those in need and loved life. He was generous to everyone. He served as a dedicated member and greeter at the Cherry Corner Baptist Church where everyone was warmly welcomed by Roger and his legendary hugs.
Supporting grandson, Justice, was another love of Roger’s. He especially loved watching him wrestle, which became something he and Pat did even after Justice graduated. They were tremendous supporters of the Calloway County Wrestling Team, traveling all across the state, and cared for so many of those boys as their adopted grandsons.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; children, Scott (Stephanie) Ingrum, Michael Hopkins, and Michelle (David) McAdams; grandchildren, Austin McAdams, Dillon McAdams, and Justice Manley; and sister, Mary Olehy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Matilda (Jones) Ingrum; stepson, Robert Hopkins; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Bro. Ronnie Burkeen officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
