She was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on June 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Thomas B and Virginia Nance. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Hunt Jordan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and close friends who will sadly miss her. Mary obtained her undergraduate degree from Murray State University and a master’s degree in library science from Louisiana State University. She was fluent in Spanish, French and English and made use of her language skills while living in Panama and Paris, France. Mary served for six years as an assistant professor at Wheaton College, and 30 years working for the federal government in various positions, including three years as a senior analyst and writer for the White House from 1991 - 1993. She retired from the government in 2012. Throughout her life, Mary was an avid reader and loved opening her home to family and friends.
Mary was a beacon of light and love, with a deep passion for the gospel of Christ. Her unwavering devotion to the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and her local church reflected her commitment to spreading hope, faith, and the message of salvation to all corners of the world. She lived her life with grace, compassion, cheerfulness and a tireless desire to see others come to know the love of Jesus. Whether through a kind word, a prayer, or a helping hand, Mary touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on every soul she encountered. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of faith and love continues to shine brightly. We celebrate her life, her mission, and the eternal impact she made in the name of Christ.
