Mrs. Mattie B. Calvert

          Mrs. Mattie Bea Calvert, age 86, of Murray, Kentucky passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Marshall County Hospital in Benton, Kentucky.
          Mrs. Calvert was born in Christian County, Kentucky on September 27, 1939, to the late Bud Thomas Sowell and Elner L. (Stack) Sowell. Mrs. Calvert retired from Mattel, was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, Kentucky and the Order of the Eastern Star.
          In addition to her parents, Mrs. Calvert was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Calvert; three sisters, Dorothy Sowell, Cora Blessing, and Mary L. Sullivan; and by one brother, John T. Sowell.
          Mrs. Calvert is survived by one son, Jerry Johnson and wife Sharon of Murray, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Peggy Calvert of Orange, California; one stepson, Richard Calvert of Paducah, Kentucky; two step grandchildren, Doug Pharris and wife Stephanie of Murray, Kentucky and Kevin Pharris and wife Chrissy of Port Charlotte, Florida; as well as five step great grandchildren.
          A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Bro. Dale Taylor, Bro. Mike Littrell, and Bro. Calvin Bryant will officiate, and burial will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
