Bobbie Jean Geurin Lane, 82, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
She was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Michigan, to Lona Mae Williams Geurin and Robert Troy Geurin, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Calloway County High School in 1961. She received her bachelor of science degree from Murray State College in 1964 and trained for her career as a medical technologist at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She felt her career was a calling to help others. She worked in hospital laboratories in Mayfield, San Antonio, Texas, Columbus, Mississippi, and in Murray at the Houston-McDevitt Clinic. She finished her career at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital, retiring in 2005.
Mrs. Lane was always learning new things and looking for the wonder in the world. She was an amateur photographer and an avid bird watcher. She learned stained glass making, silver jewelry making and took lessons in painting. After retirement, she studied massage therapy, learned therapeutic touch and Reiki healing. She loved “digging in the dirt” flowering plants and shrubs which were a joy for her. Above all, she loved being “Grannie” to Sam and Mattie.
Mrs. Lane is survived by her daughter, April Dunn and husband Tom of Benton; grandson Sam Dunn and wife Anika of Louisville; granddaughter, Mattie Dunn of Savannah, Georgia; siblings Jimmy Geurin and wife Vicky, and Jo Burkeen and husband Ronnie, all of Murray; and nieces, nephews and their families who were so dear to her, Jodi Hicks (Dan), Terri Dick (Ottis Ohnemus), Robert Geurin (Becky), Troy Geurin (Kelly) and JD Geurin (Katie).
She was a long time member of Murray First United Methodist Church where a service of remembrance will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.
