John Lawrence Bailey, age 92, passed away peacefully July 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faithful service, devotion to family, and love of country.
 
Born on June 24, 1934, in Kirksville Missouri, John dedicated 32 years of his life to serving in the United States Coast Guard. During his distinguished career, he served aboard three ships and was stationed throughout the country, including Baltimore, MD; St. Louis, MO; Cape May, NJ; Portsmouth, VA; Charleston, SC; Nashville, TN; Mobile, AL, Paducah, KY; He concluded his remarkable career, Captain of the Port in New Orleans, LA.
 
John was admired for his strong work ethic, leadership, and unwavering commitment to those he served alongside. His years in the Coast Guard reflected his dedication to protecting and serving his country with honor.
 
Above all, John cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Maggie Bailey, his daughters, Susan Buckman, Patti Fletcher, and Patti’s husband; his grandchildren, Josh Buckman, Adam Buckman, John Lawson, and Maci Robinson; great grandchildren Jacob Buckman, John Bailey Lawson, and Hugo Lawson.
 
John will be remembered for his strength, quiet dedication, and the love he shared with his family. His life was one of honor, service, and steadfast commitment. John’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
