Velma Onell Lapradd, age 90, of Princeton, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on June 2, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family. Born on August 10, 1934, in Caldwell County, Velma was a steadfast pillar of her community and a compassionate soul who touched the lives of many.

Velma dedicated her lively spirit and industrious nature to her work. She spent many years at the sewing factory H&E Apparel, where her talent for sewing flourished. Additionally, she took great pride in maintaining the homes of countless families, reflecting her meticulousness and commitment to quality in all aspects of her life.

As a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church, Velma's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Her strong convictions were evident in her spirited declaration: she was a "Democrat, tried and true." This sense of purpose extended beyond her political beliefs; Velma loved deeply, and her family was at the center of her world. She leaves behind a legacy woven with love and laughter, including daughters Roxann Bell (Bruce) of Calvert City and Polly Thompson of Princeton. Velma's heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Dustin Wynn and James Robert Thompson, as well as her great-grandchildren, Emma Koscho and Collin Wynn. Their memories of her will forever be treasures held close.

Velma's adventurous spirit led her to travel across 13 states, creating countless memories—including the breathtaking moment she walked beneath the Hoover Dam, an achievement she held close to her heart. Her hobbies brought her joy and fulfillment; she enjoyed the music of the Sons of the Pioneers.

Though Velma has left this world, she joined her late husband, James "Red" Orange, and her parents, Chester and Elsie Stallins, in eternal rest. She is also reunited with her beloved son-in-law, Sammy Thompson, and her cherished siblings: George Wylie, Vernon, Doward, Olean "Curly" Louard, and Jole Dean Stallins, Dorothy Nichols and Lucille Young.

Velma's visitation services will be held at Goodman Funeral Home in Princeton, KY, on June 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on June 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the second visitation at 2:00 PM, with Bro. Gary Mitchell officiating. Burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

As we remember Velma Onell Lapradd, we honor a life filled with love, determination, and community spirit. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, reminding us all of the gift of family, faith, and the shared moments that create an everlasting bond.

Goodman Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Lapradd family.
