The Murray Tigers saw their historic football season end Saturday as the Class 3A state runners-up, after a 42-7 loss to defending state champion Christian Academy of Louisville at Kroger Field in Lexington.
Murray was playing without injured starting quarterback Wyatt Robbins. Meanwhile, the Tigers faced one of Kentucky's best high school quarterbacks in Jackson Burke.
Burke connected on 14-of-14 passes for 316 yards and five touchdowns. That gave Burke 53 touchdown passes for the season against just one interception. Burke completed a national record 83 percent of his passes on the season.
Overall, CAL outgained Murray 354 yards to 174 yards.
The Tigers took a 14-0 record into the championship game, their best season ever.
This is Christian Academy's fourth consecutive state football title and sixth overall.
The Centurions are coached by Paducah Tilghman and University of Louisvlle alum Hunter Cantwell.
