Paducah Tilghman capped off a perfect season with their 4th ever state football championship on Friday night.

The Blue Tornado held off another undefeated squad, the Franklin County Flyers out of Frankfort, 27-20 at Kroger Field in Lexington for the 4A crown.

With their 15-0 record, it was the first undefeated season for Tilghman since 1973. Their last previous state title came in 2009.

Jack James passed for 352 yards and a touchdown for Tilghman. He also ran for two TDs.

Martels Carter caught 9 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. The Blue Tornado totaled 528 yards of offense in the game.

Franklin County (13-1) scored first and led 7-6 after the first quarter, but Tilghman took the lead for good at halftime, 14-7.
