Murray State signed its College World Series baseball coach to a four-year contract extension this week.
Head coach Dan Skirka reportedly signed the new deal after he gained national prominence by taking the Racers all the way to Omaha and the College World Series for the first time in the 86-year history of the school's program.
Along the way, Skirka was voted the NCAA Coach of the Year. He was also reportedly in the running for the coaching job at Duke University.
On Thursday, shortly after Duke announced Wake Forest pitching coach Corey Muscara as their next head coach, Kendall Rogers from D1Baseball announced Skirka was signing the extension with the Racers.
While the contract details weren't released, Rogers reports that Skirka will likely be the highest-paid coach in the Missouri Valley Conference.
