Calvert City's ripe tomato contest is back

It's the third year for Calvert City's Homegrown Tomato Contest.

Contestants can bring their tomatoes to Holly Nursery in Calvert City to enter.

Nursery staff will weigh the tomatoes and post a photo on social media.

On September 5, the winners will be announced in three categories:

- biggest ripe tomato inside Calvert City limits
- biggest ripe tomato from all locations
- smallest ripe tomato from all locations

Prizes include a $50 gift card, a t-shirt and bragging rights.
