This time we went to McCracken County High School and surprised Social Studies teacher Drake Williams. Once again, we were honored to present him with a certificate and monetary prize courtesy of Scott Walker Construction. By far, the most fun is learning more about our teachers through our questions.
1. What would you students be surprised to find out about you?
I was in band in high school. I can play the saxophone – like Kenny G!
2. What makes a good day at school?
Everybody shows up and does their work!
3. How do you show your school spirit?
Spirit Week! (This week is spirit week. Unfortunately, we missed pajama day and Adam Sandler Day.)
4. How does technology make your job simpler or more difficult?
It doesn’t. Cellphones are not allowed in class.
5. If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
Do your best. Be yourself. All day, every day.
6. How do you remember all of your students’ names?
I have to match a face with a name.
7. If you could take your students on a field trip anywhere in the world, where would you take them and why?Somewhere in Europe. Because there’s a lot of history.
8. What was your first memory from school?
I remember going to Kindergarten at Lowes Elementary – it’s not there anymore – in an outbuilding. My parents took me to school and it was optional to stay all day. I chose to stay!
9. What is a school sport or activity that you enjoy watching?
Basketball
10. What kind of driver were you when you first got your license?
Really bad! I did not pass my drivers test the first time. (But he’s a good driver now.)
