The Union Sportsmen Alliance invites families to Take Kids Fishing Day events on Saturday at Noble Park in Paducah.
The USA says it's an opportunity for children to enjoy the sport of fishing while learning about the importance of conservation.
The first 150 registered youths at each event will receive a free fishing rod and reel. Union volunteers will provide kids and their parents with instruction and assistance.
Organized by the USA, Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources and local union volunteers, the events are part of a series of free youth outreach activities organized under the USA's flagship conservation program, Work Boots on the Ground.
Fishing is more than just a pastime, according to the USA—it’s a lifelong adventure that connects people with nature and each other. Studies show that outdoor activities like fishing spark curiosity in kids, and helps them develop a lasting appreciation for nature and conservation. This year’s events will see young anglers learn the ropes from experienced union members—creating lifelong memories.
Paducah Take Kids Fishing Day is at Bob Noble Park from 9 a.m. until noon.
