2.5 quake felt in northwest Tennessee

The United States Geological Survey recorded a small earthquake in in northwest Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the USGS report, the magnitude 2.5 quake was recorded at 3:27 p.m., about 8 miles west-northwest of Newbern, Tennessee in Dyer County, or 25 miles southwest of Union City.

The USGS said the quake had a depth of 2.4 miles. Three people noted that they felt the tremor.
