Despite recent public demand that he resign his post, Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree says he will remain on the job until his term ends in January.

Acree told WKDZ his focus over the next 60 days is to get the sheriff's department prepared for transition to a new sheriff.  He added keeping Trigg County citizens safe is his number one goal and that he still has good working relationships with law enforcement outside of Trigg County.

Acree was appointed to the position in 2020 after the resignation of then sheriff Jason Barnes.  He won a special election that year and is finishing a four year term he won election to in 2022.   Acree is not seeking another term in the job this year.
