A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has removed an automated signal and returned U.S. 60 to 2-Way traffic in a work zone at the 8.5 mile marker at the west edge of Marion in Crittenden County.

The work zone on U.S. 60 (West Gum Street) at the Crittenden County High and Middle School Complex and Crittenden County Hospital had been restricted to one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal.

Construction has progressed to a point that one-lane traffic will only be required at various times during daylight hours.  Motorists should be alert for intermittent lane restrictions with alternating flow controlled by flaggers.

This traffic configuration restores more normal access to the hospital and school entrances along the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that several closures are planned in coming weeks to replace cross drains and culverts along U.S. 60.
