Benton man arrested on reckless driving charge, other offenses

A Benton man was arrested Monday after the vehicle he was driving nearly struck a Marshall County Sheriff's Office cruiser head on, after having been involved in another crash and fleeing the scene.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, deputies stopped 42-year-old Derek David, after he nearly hit them head on.

During the traffic stop, another motorist advised the deputies that David had just crashed into him and left the scene of the accident.

David was charged with reckless driving, as well as failure to report a traffic accident and speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit.
