Benton man facing drug charges following traffic stop

A Benton man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop Friday.

Police said a red four door truck with one head light out was seen leaving a known drug dealer's home near Walnut Street. A traffic stop was conducted on West 13th Street where the driver was identified as 42-year-old Jason Alexander. 

Alexander is said to have had red glossy eyes and displayed several clues of impairment. Police said his vehicle smelled of a strong odor of marijuana. Officers said they found a loaded syringe with methamphetamine inside it, as well as a baggie with crystal methamphetamine hidden inside a box that thrown in the back floorboard while searching the vehicle.

While placing him in the back of the cruiser, a small baggie of marijuana was also reportedly found on Alexander. 

Alexander was charged possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and several traffic offenses.
