Benton woman dies in Wednesday traffic accident

A Bentonwoman is dead following a Wednesday morning ttwo vehicle raffic accident.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said Thursday the mishap occured at the intersection of Oaks Road and Shemwell Lane.  A vehicle operated by 42-year-old Amanda Beck of Paducah was southbound on Oaks Road.

While negotiating a sweeping curve, Beck's vehicle came upon ice on the roadway, spun and crossed over into the opposing lane of travel. The second vehicle, driven by 57-year-old Alicia Andersson of Benton was northbound on Oaks Road when it was struck and overturned.

Andersson was first taken to a local hospital and died enroute to an out of state hospital.  Beck and a 14-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital with the passenger transported to an out of state hospital for further treatment.
