Paducah's Board of Commissioners on Tuesday passed a municipal order approving an application for funding to renovate the Hotel Metropolitan.
The city has put in for a Mellon Foundation Grant of $1.34 million for the Uppertown Heritage Foundation, who will team with the city as co-stewards of the hotel's future development and success. The Mellon Foundation asked the city to serve as the grant's applicant in which the city will oversee the funds for renovations at the Hotel Metropolitan. Mayor Bray emphasized that the city would not be involved in any ownership aspect of the hotel.
The board also passed a $779,104 grant for re-roofing and renovation of the city's technology department.
First reading of an ordinance was passed approving a budget amendment in the amount of $670,365 for radios for the city of Paducah as part of the 911 radio upgrade project. Mayor Bray said meetings with McCracken County officials on the project have gone well and they hope to be able to announce an interlocal agreement shortly.
