A motion for bond reduction in the case involving a former Murray Police detective was denied this week.

The Murray Sentinel reported Thursday a motion asking for the bond reduction in the case of 44-year-old Justin Swope was denied.

Swope is being held on $70,000 bond on charges of rape and sodomy involving a minor he met when she was 15.

Following his May 20th arrest, Swope waived preliminary hearings in both Trigg and Calloway County where he is charged.

Attorneys then met to come up with an agreement for the reduction, which did not occur.

Swope's attroney then filed a supplemental motion claiming he would not be a risk for making court appearances.

However, the prosecution painted a different side of Swope, claiming he had messaged the victim telling her he would kill himself if the crimes were discovered.

It was also noted a Kentucky State Police search of Swope's Almo home revealed a number of weapons and ammunition.

The KSP investigation is continuing with more charges to possibly be brought.

Swope was held in the McCracken County Regional Jail, but The Murray Sentinel reported he had been moved to another undisclosed facility.
