Calloway deputies find stabbing incident when checking for traffic accident

Calloway County deputies responded to a possible traffic accident Monday morning, but ended up dealing with a stabbing incident.

Deputies said they responded to Highway 121 near Coldwater about 4 a.m. checking a report of a possible motor vehicle collision. The investigation determined that three individuals were traveling in a vehicle when a verbal altercation occurred, resulting in one occupant stabbing another.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital and later transferred to another medical facility due to the severity of the injuries sustained.

The suspect, 18-year-old Ryan E. Garner, was arrested and lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center.

He was charged with assault and tampering with physical evidence.
