A Calvert City man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop Thursday.

Calvert City Police were alerted to a pickup that had nearly been in several crashes with a possibly impaired driver at the wheel. Officers caught up to the truck near US 62 and Oak Park Boulevard. The truck, driven by 33-year-old Barrett Gene Edwards of Calvert City, was stopped and a search was conducted. The reportedly located heroin, cocaine, and opiates.

Edwards was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substances, possession of heroin, cocaine, and opiates, having a prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, and failure to produce an insurance card.

Edwards was cited and taken to Marshall County Hospital to be treated.
