Mayfield Police said a convicted sex offender spat on them and threatened to kill them when he was found to be non-compliant with the sex offender registry.

Police said they arrested 47-year-old Michael Palmer of Humbolt, Tennessee, Tuesday when they learned he was in violation of the sex offender registry and under the influence of alcohol.

While he was being driven to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center, Palmer reportedly spat on the arresting officer and threatened to kill three officers.

Palmer is charged with assault, terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and failure to comply with sex offender registration.
